Thank you so much to everyone who bought a print. I have raised 1180.
“Refugee Border Crossing, 2022” was a special edition 10x8 inch archival print on cotton rag paper. It was printed at Copperhouse in Dublin 8.
The image shows a Ukrainian mother, her two children and their dog fleeing their home and war torn country in search of freedom and safety. The red line represents the boundary of international boarders. Once she and her children cross over they are refugees.
Like everyone watching the footage coming out of Ukraine I am shocked, saddened and feel powerless as to how I can help. All I can do is draw so this is how I have decided to help. I have decided to donate the proceeds of this print to Medécins Sans Frontiéres/ Doctors Without Borders Ukraine : https://www.msf.ie/article/emergency-war-ukraine.
A small amount of the money will go towards covering the printing cost with the printing house I have used, including Paypal or Stripe fees I incur on each purchase. The rest will go directly to MSF.
This is an unframed print but I have taken photos to show you some framing options. It will fit quite well into an A4 frame with a mount opening of 5.2 inches x 7.2 inches / 13.2 cm x 18.2 cm. Or you can use a 10x8 inch frame.
The print will arrive wrapped in acid free tissue paper in a hard back envelope. Sometimes I use recycled card to make sure the print arrives safely and cannot be folded by the post company. I am trying to run an environmentally sustainable practice so please be aware that I do not use excess wrapping etc.
This is intended as a Mother's Day gift to honor all the brave women in the world who cross boundaries for change every day.
