Once May arrives the hedgerows around the country are white or pink with hawthorn blossoms. Hawthorn has been used in traditional medicine for generations as a heart tonic. The leaves, the flowers and the berries.
In May the full moon is known as blossom moon or hare moon and this is symbolized in the sky. The woman connects to the hawthorn through her heart, magnified by the power of the moon. Her dress is made of soil and she has roots under it connecting her to the Earth.
This print is inspired by my own spiritual practice of grounding down to Earth and connecting to the sky.
