This is an A3 archival print 1-50 on 350 grams cotton rag paper, printed in Dublin, Ireland to museum quality.
The idea behind this print is transformation of the self and giving back to nature. The earth nurtures the figure in the image through the roots extending from her feet. She is able to sufficiently grow flowers from her body because of this connection. She mourns for all the bees who have died from hunger before they found her body. And yet she is happy to share her body with the bees.
While this illustration is a narrative about nurturing, transformation and change, we can’t literally grow flowers from our bodies. However, I am interested in how we can each transform our lives, or how society can better adapt to the biodiversity and climate crisis.
“ “Weep! Weep!” calls a toad from the water’s edge. And I do. If grief can be a doorway to love, then let us all weep for the world we are breaking apart so we can love it back to wholeness again.”
