This print was inspired by the diversity of life in a woodland, even in winter. It was also inspired by the idea of connection. Tree roots connect to mycorrhizal fungal networks and swap nutrients and sugars. The woodland is comprised of trees of different age groups both living and dead. They provide food for many types of lifeforms. All of these lifeforms form an important part of the ecology of the forest. Trees also regulate our weather systems and create the air we breathe. While their branches stretch up into the sky and their roots grow far underground they play an incredibly important role on our planet. We know now that trees work better together, as a healthy native woodland.
We are all connected to the trees, the seen and unseen lifeforms and to each other and as one living, breathing biosphere.
